Technology is not just computers

One of the common misconceptions Technology Teachers face is that most people believe that technology is just "computers."  Nothing could be farther from the truth.

At ECI, technology is divided into five areas:  energy and power, communication, manufacturing, construction, and biotechnology.  The delivery system used is MATE (Modular Approach to Technology Education).  The lab is shown in the picture below.

energy and power, communication, manufacturing, construction, and biotechnology

The lab has over 3600 square feet of area and consists of the following spaces: (1)  Main module area, (2)  Office, (3)  Classroom, (4)  Material processing room, (5)  TV Studio and Control Room,

(6)  Radio Communications Room, (7)  Audio Room, (8)  Storage rooms.  The twenty-four modules in the lab were either purchased from DEPCO or were self-developed.  The modules are grouped in clusters as follows:

Energy and Power
Electronics
Laser Applications
Mechanical Systems
Fluid Power
Control Technology

Construction
Building Construction
Architectural Drafting
